LuLu Group, whose flagship hypermarket chain powers the MENA region as one of the largest and fastest- growing retail chains, will be launching an ambitious ESG campaign this month which will shape the way the Group manages its response to environmental issues and sustainability, promotes social values such as diversity and inclusion in the workplace and manages employee relations through good governance of the workplace.

The meticulously thought-out campaign is known as GOAL, which stands for Green. Oneness. Princess Haifa bint Faisal Al Saud, Chairperson of the Zahra Breast Cancer Association, launched Awareness. and Life. Lulu has made a connection between using and purchasing its recyclable bags during October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month and contributing money to the Zahra Breast Cancer Association.

From October 2022 to September 2023, the GOAL campaign will be running to raise awareness of Lulu's ESG targets. The Group will improve its current programmes and implement fresh ones with brand-new objectives and initiatives that invite public participation.

Twelve different "green ideas" have been chosen to be put into action over the course of the upcoming year, each of which will improve the Group's environmental and sustainability record and inspire new dedication to the cause. These include employing solar energy to power LuLu's sizable warehouses and allowing consumers to choose paper bags for their purchases.

The Group's "green" awareness will be highlighted by additional projects including the Saudi Green Initiative and National Food Bank projects, a sustainable fashion campaign, and a vegan promotion to learn about alternative diets deemed to be more environmentally friendly. A Green Office programme will also be implemented to encourage staff members to think sustainably.

Campaigns like a push to collect winter clothing and the Clean Up programme, in which employees donate their time and energy to help people clean up wadis, parks, and gardens as well as rubbish that has accumulated in the desert, will help achieve social goals. Small businesses will receive a platform to advertise their goods and services in-store, as well as a project to teach kids how to make crafts out of recycled materials, particularly plastic.
