California is leading the world’s most significant economic transformation since the Industrial Revolution.

Governor Gavin Newsom declared, "We are making history here in California, and today concludes a historic ten days for world-leading climate action." “California is leading the world’s most significant economic transformation since the Industrial Revolution – we’re cutting pollution, turning the page on fossil fuels and creating millions of new jobs.”
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) approved an extraordinary plan on Thursday to reduce air pollution, transition away from fossil fuels, and increase the generation of clean energy, setting an international standard for a detailed road map to achieve net zero emissions.
In the scoping plan,
Reduce air pollution by 71%; lower greenhouse gas emissions by 85% by 2045; reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 48% by 2030, exceeding the legal need to reduce emissions to at least 40% below 1990 levels by 2030;
Reduce our usage of fossil fuels to less than one-tenth of what it is now, resulting in a 94% decline in oil demand and an 86% decline in demand for all fossil fuels;
4 million new employment must be created;
avert $200 billion in health expenditures for Californians caused by pollution.
